It’s 12:10am and you aren’t yet sleepy. No wonder, you are surprised, cause you usually aren’t up so late, specially without a reason, but tonight, it feels like your heart is keeping you awake. You feel a strange scent of pleasure in the silence which surrounds the room. It drives you to think of your life, of where you actually are, and the heaviness of such thoughts drives your sleep away. However, you keep tossing and turning, trying to find that one comfortable position you could sleep in, but you fail terribly. You give up, and just lie there, staring in the darkness, rewinding everything that got you where you are. You smile to yourself when you replay all those moments which gave you the kind of happiness you always wanted to live for. You recollect, how everyone promised to stay forever. You find yourself awed by the trust you had in your older relationships, but you don’t regret the feeling.
Yes, you do slightly feel surprised by how things changed, and how the reality doomed the illusion you were living in, but the best part arrives, when you realise that you don’t curse the memories anymore. And at that precise moment, when you feel the happiness of being grown up enough to understand how the good and the bad times have taught you to be kind to yourself, you are overwhelmed by the emotions. You finally feel what it’s like fall in love with oneself. A tiny drop of joy slips from your eyes. You can’t believe that you are the same person who once cared too much about things which never mattered, who once was hurt cause of his own expectations, who once was stupid enough to choose someone’s happiness over his smile. The darkness no longer feels heavier. And the weight in your head feels like the peace you had been avoiding all along. You embrace the change in yourself, and your smile portrays the war you have won. You close your eyes, and allow yourself to feel the beauty of your heart. And slowly, obliviously, you drift in a world of your imaginations, of your dreams, and of peace
